Cardentey Vascular Care diagnoses and treats the full range of vascular conditions — both the arteries and the veins — from one practice in Largo. Whether the problem is poor circulation and leg pain, a non-healing wound, visible or aching veins, a blood clot, or an aneurysm, you are seeing a board-certified vascular surgeon who can find the real cause and treat it.

Many vein clinics treat only the surface and refer everything else elsewhere. Because Dr. Dariam Cardentey manages the whole vascular system, diagnosis starts with painless in-office ultrasound and leads directly to a treatment plan — often during the same visit.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Leg pain, poor circulation, and the arterial disease behind it — diagnosed and treated, from medication to minimally invasive procedures. Chronic Venous Insufficiency When leg vein valves fail, blood pools and causes aching, heaviness, swelling, and skin changes — treated at the source, not just the surface. Varicose Veins Bulging, rope-like veins that are often the visible sign of underlying vein disease — evaluated with ultrasound and treated with minimally invasive care. Spider & Reticular Veins Small surface veins treated with sclerotherapy — backed by a vascular check for any underlying vein problem first. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) A blood clot in a deep leg vein that can be dangerous if it travels — diagnosed quickly with ultrasound and treated to protect you. Aneurysms An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a silent bulge a quick, painless ultrasound can catch before it becomes an emergency. Leg Swelling Swelling can point to a vein problem, a clot, or another vascular cause — we find the reason and treat it. Non-Healing Wounds When wounds won't heal, the problem is often blood flow — we restore it, working alongside your wound care team.

When should you see a vascular specialist?

Many vascular problems are easy to dismiss until they progress. It is worth getting a vascular evaluation if you notice any of the following:

  • Leg pain or cramping when you walk that eases with rest
  • Legs that ache, feel heavy, or swell — especially by the end of the day
  • Visible varicose or spider veins, or skin changes near the ankles
  • A sore or wound on the foot or leg that will not heal
  • Sudden swelling, warmth, or pain in one leg, which can signal a clot and should be checked promptly
  • A family history of aneurysm, or a history of smoking

You do not always need a referral to see a vascular surgeon. If you are unsure whether your symptoms are vascular, a consultation and a painless ultrasound can give you a clear answer and, if needed, a treatment plan.

A vascular surgeon treats diseases of the arteries and veins outside the heart and brain — including peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, aneurysms, varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis, leg swelling, and the circulation problems behind non-healing wounds. Dr. Cardentey treats all of these, using both minimally invasive and open techniques.

Arterial disease affects the vessels that carry blood away from the heart; when they narrow, tissue doesn't get enough oxygen, causing leg pain, poor healing, and, in severe cases, limb loss. Venous disease affects the veins that return blood to the heart; when their valves fail, blood pools and causes swelling, aching, varicose veins, and skin changes. Many patients have one or the other, and both are treatable.

Most vascular conditions are diagnosed with a painless, non-invasive ultrasound that shows how blood is flowing through your arteries and veins. Because this is done in our office, Dr. Cardentey can often review the results and discuss next steps during the same visit.

Your primary care doctor is a great first stop and can refer you when needed — but you don't always need a referral to see a vascular surgeon. If you have symptoms like leg pain with walking, swelling, visible veins, or a wound that won't heal, a vascular evaluation can pinpoint the cause and start treatment sooner.

Yes. Because we treat the whole vascular system, we can evaluate both the arteries and the veins in the same visit — which matters, since leg symptoms can come from either one, or both. That is an advantage of seeing a comprehensive vascular practice rather than a vein-only clinic.
